This page is being reconstructed and will shortly be displaying suggested complete itineraries for the Western Cape that will appeal to Walkers. These are fully tailor-made and will involve self-drive, linking hikes in the Cape Town environs with small group trails in other parts of the Cape, walking safaris, winelands and garden route. These tours are fully flexible and can include as much or little walking as you like. The group tour we ran in March 2017, all details below, will give you a feel for the sort of things that can be done on a tailor-made trip to the Cape.
Group Walking Tour in the Western Cape - 2nd to 19th March, 2017 |
Itinerary |
This is a one-off small group walking tour aimed at exploring a sequence of major mountain and coastal environments across the Western Cape, commencing in Cape Town and working eastwards, up through the Klein Karoo and ending on the Garden Route coastline in the Tsitsikamma Forest. All of the walking sequences, which range from 1 to 3 days, will be fully supported by guides, with logistics and catering all taken care of, and you'll stay in fixed accommodation for the greater part - all you need to carry is a day sack containing your essentials. The aim is to trek comfortably, although some of the walking days will be relatively strenuous. An optional 3-day extension to experience a walking safari at Sanbona Private Game Reserve is offered afterwards, although this has limited places. Alternative, tailor-made extensions will be offered to those not joining the safari at Sanbona. The tour will be co-hosted by a personable Cape Town-based guide and Angus Maclaren of Walks in Africa, and a minibus will be used for the duration of the tour.
